a.m. "Save Our Waterways" Protest Cruise on the River Thames, organised by the IWA and BMF. The Chairperson of The Horseboating Society on board to represent HBS as one of the organisations of the alliance joining together in the campaign.

p.m. Visit to Benjamin Franklin House, Craven Street, London, to see educational video of Bonny and Maria filmed Autumn 2005 on the Ashton Canal.

Sunday March 4th 2007
"Save Our Waterways" Protest Gathering, Portland Basin, at the junction of the Ashton and Lower Peak Forest Canals. 12.00 noon to 4.00 pm.
Horseboat Maria will attend. Crew required.
10am Crew to gather at Hanover St. North, Guidebridge to prepare horse and boat for the journey
11am Depart under horsepower for Portland Basin
Boats to have gathered and moored up 12 noon to 4pm

David Heyes MP has kindly agreed to attend and The Horseboating Society will invite him to steer horseboat Maria again, as he did in October 2006. David is a member of the Parliamentary Waterways Group and has been fully supportive of all campaign efforts so far.
"Meet Bonny The Boathorse" - Sue Day may provide a boathorse harnessing demonstration which is also a talk on horseboating if there is a sufficient number of people gathered at any one time.

It is hoped that all types of waterway users will come together at Portland Basin for this event.

The Horseboating Society AGM and EVENT DAY.

10.30 am: Boathorse harnessing demonstration at the stables
11.00 am: Horseboat Gifford will be horse-drawn to the winding hole for a demonstration of winding the boat using horse power.
12.30 pm: Lunch in the museum café or bring your own.
1.30 pm: The Horseboating Society Awards Ceremony.
2.00 pm: THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Museum closes.

We hope to offer a few days for horseboating outings with Maria on the Ashton, Lower Peak Forest and Huddersfield Narrow Canals.
Some of these dates may be used as specific training days.

The Etruria Canal Festival, Junction of the Caldon and the Trent and Mersey Canals, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Jesse Shirley's Bone and Flint Mill.
The horseboat Saturn of the Shropshire Union Flyboat Restoration Society will attend this event. Boathorse harnessing demonstration on both days by Sue Day. Joint project between the Shropshire Union Flyboat Restoration Society and the Horseboating Society.
